Our Future Lionesses (& Lions)

From the team here at KCS, we’d like to congratulate the Lionesses on their fantastic 2-1 win against Germany on the 31st July 2022! Not only have they made an entire nation proud, but they will inspire a whole generation of children, especially girls, to fall in love with football.  With a record breaking crowd of 87 192 spectators, this was a momentous event, and a game changer for the future of the sport.

European Championship Women's Final 2022 Winners

In 1921 the FA banned women from playing on Football League grounds as the sport was deemed ‘unsuitable for females’ and ‘ought not to be encouraged’. Just over 100 years later, the England team are celebrating their first ever major women’s championship win in the Euro’s. Women in sport have clearly come such a long way, but this is just the beginning.

Why not join this movement by taking part in your first ever football lesson? If football isn’t your thing, maybe you could be inspired to take up a different sport!

Benefits of trying a new sport:

  •  Not only does exercise increase cardiovascular health, it also improves balance, improves metabolism and boosts immune systems. Aside from these benefits, exercise improves memory, sleep quality and psychological well-being.

Did you know that children aged 6-17 should be exercising for atleast 60 minutes each day?

  • Engaging in a new hobby allows children to develop their communication and social skills. Particularly in sports involving teams, kids are able to learn how to interact with others, whilst developing teamwork skills and sportsmanship.

Hobbies improve mental health by encouraging traits such as concentration, determination and patience. They also provide children with a purpose, as well as an outlet to reduce negative stress.

  • Taking up a new sport allows children to develop ambition, inspirations and goals. These motivations are beneficial to kids as it boosts their confidence and self-esteem. It increases their self-belief at a young age, meaning that as they mature they are more likely to throw themselves into new challenges and opportunities.
