KCS Summer Book Club

Summer reading is highly beneficial to children as it allows them to retain all of the knowledge that they have gained in the previous academic year, whilst building new critical thinking skills ready September. On top of this it allows for the development of creativity, self-expression and mindfulness.

Besides, what better way to cure Summer boredom blues than to delve into a new book?

To encourage children to participate in Summer reading this year, we have created our very own KCS Summer Book Club. We’ve invited some of our KCS Champions to share with us their favourite books, in the hopes of inspiring other children to read them!

	Isa-Mae, 5 My favourite book is... The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr It's my favourite book because... I love animals.
Imogen, 9 My favourite book is... Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot by Jeff Kinney It's my favourite book because... it’s funny, and it’s all about trying something new.
	Allana, 3 My favourite book is... Ralph Breaks the Internet by Suzanne Francis It's my favourite book because... it has all of the princesses in it!
Oliver, 7 My favourite book is... The Last Bear by Hannah Gold It's my favourite book because... I like books about animals. This book has made me want to do more to help real polar bears.
	Rosie, 8 My favourite book is... Gangsta Granny by David Walliams It's my favourite book because... I think it's really funny, I love all of David Walliams books, they are always really funny and exciting to read.
Isabella, 8 My favourite book is... Starfell: Willow Moss and the Lost Day by Dominique Valente It's my favourite book because... it feels like the author takes me to a magical world full of dragons and witches and wizards.
	Ayra, 5 My favourite book is... Daddy's Little Bear by Gemma Cary It's my favourite book because... it’s about daddy. The little bear needs help and his daddy helps him.
