Andy Wilson welcomed into his new role

KCS - one of the largest suppliers of education resources to schools and nurseries worldwide – has appointed a new managing director.

With a reputation for excellence within the sector, Andy Wilson joins the business as MD of KCS Group and executive director of its parent company, Commercial Services Group.

Wilson brings with him a wealth of experience having spent more than 10 years in the field of education.

Previously managing director at RM Resources (TTS and Consortium), Wilson played a key role in driving its growth. This included overseeing the company’s expansion from a domestic supplier to an international one - now trading in 87 countries – and securing The Queen’s Award for outstanding achievement in international trade on two occasions.

Throughout Autism Acceptance Month, several KCS employees shared their personal experiences about living with autism with a focus on tackling some common misconceptions.  To round up this month’s activity, we are delighted to share their insights and expertise. 

As an experienced leader in a multi-brand organisation, Andy joins the Group with an exceptional track record in the education industry. Andy’s career spans UK and US private sector, private equity and owner-entrepreneur businesses with strong strands of growth strategy and transformation throughout.

At KCS, we are passionate about making sure the world is a better place for our children. We know how important it is to look after our environment and to ensure that we are not having a negative impact on the world around us. During the pandemic, many of our staff have been working from home which has reduced carbon emissions significantly because we're no longer commuting. There are plans for this to stay in place even once the pandemic restrictions are over.

There has been much discussion and debate over the years about the effect of brightly coloured environments on children (and adults) – and how ill-considered use of colour may have quite the impact on our feelings and mood, and children’s learning and behaviour.

Transition to nursery, reception or Year 1 can prove challenging for all involved at the best of times, let alone during an unforeseen pandemic! COVID-19 has bought many challenges, but many of us are now starting to think about September: How can we welcome new starters or returning children back to our setting, in a way that is supportive to their well-being? We know that the way in which first transitions are handled can have a serious impact on a child’s future ability to cope with change, both in the short and long term – so it’s important to get it right whilst trying our best to keep them safe.
