The yellow door rollers have always been a firm favourite in our house and if you are not already a convert the 'seasons' set is the perfect place to start. It includes four sets of rollers, each with six different designs, all made with a durable stone mix which is perfect for indoor and outdoor play. They’re the perfect shape and size for little hands, helping to work on those all-important muscles for writing later on by rolling and stamping.
The thing that I love the most about this set is that you can pick and choose from all 24 rollers depending on what your child wants to explore. There is a lovely mixture of natural elements which can be chosen from depending on the interest, however they obviously work beautifully together in their individual sets to explore each season.

In the spring set there is a choice of daffodil and flowers, egg and bird’s nest, blossom and orchard, lamb and sheep, froglet and tadpoles, and duckling and duck. This set is a great way to extend a small world setup by adding playdough and toy animals. Children can make the connections between the images created by the roller and the additional resources. This is a great way to encourage interesting conversations, helping to extend a child's vocabulary.

Included in the summer set is a sunflower and garden, strawberry and strawberry patch, seedhead and dandelions, swallow and rooftops, baby owl and mother owl, and butterfly and flowers. Whilst playdough is the obvious choice for these rollers, there are also so many others ways to use them. Play sand is a great alternative and holds the prints really well. Paired with some seasonal flowers it makes such a good and simple invitation to play during the summer months. This is a great season to learn about various plant life and insects, with these rollers providing the perfect opportunity to open up conversation around this.

Autumn is personally one of my favourite seasons and the rollers included in this set are the perfect way to celebrate this time of year. It includes falling leaves and tree, blackberry and bramble, carved face and pumpkin, acorn and squirrel, spider’s web and plants, and apple and apple tree. The rollers go perfectly with some seasonally spiced homemade playdough, coloured rice and natural objects such as conkers and leaves to create a beautiful sensory exploration. They are really beneficial in creating a visual representation of the change of season for little ones to gain a better understanding of this natural process. The addition of the carved face on the pumpkin roller also extends the set for a bit of Halloween play!

The winter set is made up of a bird and branches, snowflake and snow, holly and winter wreath, face and snowman, reindeer and mountains and star and for tree. As with the autumn set the use of festive elements means these rollers are not only ideal for winter play but also for Christmas. A lovely activity during the seasonal period is to team the rollers with some sort of clay to make decorations. Air dry clay is an easy option but you could always get the children involved in making some salt dough as well. This activity can also be extended further by painting your creations - a little bit of metallic paint shows up beautifully in the indents made by the rollers. I love a festive craft as they make great personal Christmas gifts for family and friends.
This is just a snapshot of the fun you can have with this incredible set of rollers, and really you are only limited to your imagination as to the ways they can be incorporated into play. It’s always fun to find new ways of mark making and this set can hopefully inspire you to do this!
