National Storytelling Week celebrates the power of sharing stories, whether it's non-fictional or fictional. Books have the potential to teach us about the world. They allow us to see through someone else eyes, and they also help us to escape reality and allow us to relax. Most importantly, it develops essential literacy skills. Storytelling is celebrated for a week in February around the world yearly.
Writing your own story or rewriting a story that has already been told is a fun and engaging activity for anyone to enjoy. Creative writing allows students to express themselves whilst diving into their imagination. If pupils find it difficult to spark imagination on their own with a pen and paper, we have some products that can help.
To commemorate this week, below are a mixture of products to get your creative ideas flowing.
Retell A Story Dice Set is a set of six foam cubes. These cubes will allow you to ask your students questions before, during and after reading a story. The cubes can help boost kids' imagination and vocabulary, one question at a time.
We have a mixture of story stones, including the classic fairy tale stones, under-the-sea, and out-of-space stones. These can be sorted into different subsets, including characters, settings, and objects, to aid children in creating a fun short story from the three subsets.
