What is BS EN 16579?
Football safety standard- BS EN 16579. Was instated in 2018, its purpose is to improve the safety of sports and recreational resources. Whilst those who take part are at less risk of injury.


This new standard targets junior sized and mini goals. The FA has issued this standard to ensure care for the footballing community, this new standard is a strong recommendation and is not deemed as a legal enforcement. However if you are wanting to source new goal posts, please ensure they meet the newest standards which KCS products fulfil.

KCS provide a wide range of Junior and mini goals that conform to this standard, to give our customers complete confidence and assurance that KCS product is tested and always fit for purpose.
What changes have been made?
- Allowing goals to be installed via ground screw system.
- Reduced net size from 120mm to 100mm to lower risk of head or limb entrapment.
- Net hooks now manufactured at a reduced width to lower chances of finger and hand related injury.
- New range of medium weight goal posts that weigh less than 42kg.
- Designed to stop of crushing or shearing
This has been the most significant safety development for football posts since 2013.
