5 Fantastic Father's Day Ideas

It’s no secret that Dad’s are notoriously hard to find presents for, so this year we’ve got you covered! Here are 5 craft ideas you can complete at home that will show him how much you care. Ditch the shop-bought gift cards for something more meaningful this year.

Mushroom Printing:

If your father is a super 'fun-guy', then this is the craft for you.

Perfect for early years, you can encourage children to get involved by using paint and sliced mushrooms to create a fabulous printed piece. Then simply add on the chosen text to create a fun, keepsake card.

Decorated Rocks:

If he loves gardening why not create these cool and creative personalised rocks. Using paint or chalk markers, write a personal message or decorate with fun patterns and colours. This activity comes at virtually no cost, so it’s a perfect way to show your love and brighten up the garden!

We recommend visiting the beach or a local woods to find the perfect stones. We used edding chalk markers to create our rocks that had been collected from the local beach. Depending on what medium you use will decide whether these rocks are best for indoor use only, or suitable for the garden.

Coin Dish:

Here’s the perfect craft idea for those looking to create a personal keepsake. A coin dish made out of air dry clay is a fun idea that can be as simple, or as intricate as you desire. It’s perfect for Dad’s who constantly have loose change lying around.

We decided to create a basic dish model and then decorate with paint, however you could also decorate with children’s fingerprints or engravings whilst the clay is still wet.

Lollipop Stick Card:

This unique take on a card is an incredible idea for any green-fingered Father. Decorate lollipop sticks using markers with all of the reasons why your Dad is the best! Then using a hot glue gun, adults can stick them together to create the final masterpiece. This can then be added to any indoor flower pot as a year-round reminder of how much they are loved.

We found that chalk markers worked best for this craft as they caused the least bleeding into the wood.

High 5 Card:

Finally, here’s another idea perfect for Early Years! Simply create a print of your child’s hand using acrylic paint, then attach to the front of a card using folded up paper. This will create the perfect pop-up illusion!
