Crafty Christmas Creations for the Classroom
Handprint Christmas Trees: Lightly draw a triangle onto your chosen paper. You can then use this as a template and using green paint, get your students to use their hands to print their hand prints in the triangle, creating a unique Christmas tree. Once dried, the children can then decorate their trees with either finger painting bright colours over the top, or turn into a crafting project and use other materials such as glitter or pom poms to add that final special touch.
Paper Plate Santa Masks: Give each child in the classroom their own paper plate. The first task is to outline and cutout where the eyes, nose and mouth will need to be, whilst also punching the holes to attach the string or elastic that will keep the masks on faces. You can then add cotton wool, tissue paper or paint to make the santa faces (including classic beard!).
Pine Cone Crafts: Starting with a walk, or a potential homework task for students of collecting pine cones, you can tehn decorate the pine cones using glue and glitterCollect pine cones and decorate them with small pom-poms, glitter, and tiny stars to create mini Christmas trees.
Snowy Scenes: As a collaborative class project, why not let imaginations run wild and ask your whole class to make as many snowflakes as they can. As in real life, no 2 snowflakes are the same, and therefore once you have an abundance of flakes, you can add them to thread, attach to display boards or stick to windows to create a Winter Wonderland in the classroom. And to think all you need is white paper and scissors!
Christmas Wreaths: Using our trusty paper plates once more, why not make mini wreaths? Add green craft products such as tissue paper, paint or natural materials as the base, then add ribbon and other crafty essentials to decorate your wreaths however you wish!
